HICTA and Huawei host first virtual event

Jointly with Huawei (UK), Henley Business School鈥檚 Huawei ICT Academy (HICTA) hosted a virtual event for more than 60 students last month, to help them learn more about Huawei and the digital skills training course offered by HICTA.

Professor Kecheng Liu, Professor of Applied Informatics and the Director of the Huawei ICT Academy at Henley, welcomed students and expressed appreciation to colleagues from Huawei for their valuable input towards the event.

Guest speakers from Huawei (UK), including Mr Andrew Vo, Dr Wenbing Yao, Mr Zhidong Wang, Ms Pallavi Malhorta and Mr Alex Farbon, delivered a series of presentations covering topics such as 鈥楬uawei鈥檚 2030 Vision鈥� and 鈥楬uawei Talent Ecosystem Development鈥�. The presentations gave the students a clear insight into Huawei鈥檚 position as a leading company in developing advanced ICT technologies and cultivating young talents for the industry.

Mr Zhidong Wang, Director for Partner Development & Management at Huawei UK, said:

"To combat the current challenges brought by shortage of ICT talents, Huawei as a leading ICT solution provider launched the Huawei ICT Academy in 2012, a school-enterprise cooperation that will help build the new generation of a talent ecosystem."

As we rapidly progress into the digital era, the demand for more digitally skilled individuals rise. At the event, Mr. , Talent Acquisition Lead at Huawei (UK), introduced several Huawei suitable for graduates and provided some application tips to students.

At the end of the event, Dr Qi Li, Business Development Manager of the Huawei ICT Academy at Henley, introduced the Huawei certification programme and encouraged students to put what they have learned into practice.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their informative tour of Huawei and the Huawei ICT Academy hopes to host more events like this in the future.
